Boat Building &
Manufacturing
Boat
Building is considered to be one of the oldest branches of
engineering as it has been done since the early times. It has been
used for many things, and one most commonly is transport or
transporting of goods.
Boats can be categorized into three types, Unpowered or Human
powered – like canoes, kayaks and gondolas. The second type is Sailing
boats, propelled solely by means of sails, and the third, Motorboats,
which are boats propelled by mechanical means, such as engines. These
types are all used today in the common lives of many different people
as well as cultures.
Boat Manufacturing is an art and a passion, something to enjoy
doing as it is something you need to pay great attention to. If
something is not done properly or in the correct manner, then the boat
will simply not function 100% and the end product will not be to your
satisfaction. If you are going to do something, do it right the first
time. Otherwise, what’s the point in doing it at all?
There are many aspects to consider when it comes to boat manufacturing
and the most important of all is shape and size and obviously the main
reason for the design, so that when you are assembling your structure
and completing your design you will know exactly what goes where and
how everything is supposed to work. If you have narrowed all this
down, boat building should be a breeze.
Fiberglas is one of the most common materials boat manufactures use
today when it comes to boat building. It is used for its durability
and as well as the fact that it is extremely lightweight, so in any
event, it is the more appropriate material to use when it comes to
boat building. Although the strength properties of fibreglass are
somewhat lower than carbon fiber, this material is far less brittle
and the raw materials are much less expensive. Boat manufacturers use
fibreglass as it can be easily formed using a molding process.
Boat Building, as I have mentioned before is an art and a passion and
should be done with a great extend of detail. When assembling your
vessel, you connect with the raw material, and you are proud of your
“sculpture “once it is completed.
